5th grade math students,
I copied and pasted all the information below into your google classroom for our math class. If you would like to try working from that platform you can go there now to see how it is developing. Thanks, Mrs. Zearing
Day 13
Video:
How to Multipy Mixed Numbers and Whole Numbers
This will show you two methods. Copy one example from each method in your notebook. Please watch both methods. Many of you will find the second method easier (smaller numbers). Decide on which method you want to learn and copy the other examples using that method in your notebooks. Do this before you go to today's assignment.
Day 16
A new term is used in the following videos, below is the word and it's meaning:
The reciprocal of a number is: 1 divided by the number
Examples:
• the reciprocal of 2 is 1/2 (half)
• the reciprocal of 10 is 1/10 (=0.1)
When we multiply a number by its reciprocal we get 1.
Example: 2 × 1/2 = 1
Every number has a reciprocal except 0 (1/0 is undefined)
Also called the "Multiplicative Inverse"
Day 16 Video:
Understanding Division of Fractions
if this video confuses you re-watch it from 5:18 on. The last part is the most important.
Then watch this video: Dividing a Fraction by a Whole Number
Day 18 Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mst8iZjIpFE
Watch before you begin your work.
